Smithers Landing is 40 miles/65kms north of Highway 16 also known as the Yellowhead Highway. The all season gravel road which is passable for cars and light trucks year round begins just east of Smithers and is a beautiful drive. You will pass by Babine Mountain Recreation Area which has some excellent marked trails or you can chart your own course. High detail topographical maps of the area are available. Babine Lake is the headwaters for the wilderness river which carries the same name. This waterfront cabin is the gateway to a lot of backcountry accessible by boat, ATV, mountain biking, back packing, snowmobile or ski touring. Boat or road access to world famous Rainbow Alley. There are small lakes on far side of Babine which are rarely fished and are made for belly boats. Privacy and remoteness with a one hour drive to a center (Smithers, pop ^5000) which has everything. Travel arrangements to and from airport can be arranged and there are fully Licensed guides available should you wish to go that route. Having a vehicle would greatly enrich your stay; while a four wheel drive is a bonus it is not necessary.View Map
